We are delighted to be returning to one of our favourite events of the year, Brompton Annual Open Day! We're back inside beautiful Brompton Chapel all day long. Here, you will find our unique musical gifts, including CDs, gift-wrapped picture books, and Storytime Packages, as well as fantastic products created by our super illustrator, Jenika.
Jenika will be offering 5-minute pencil portraits for children, dogs, anyone, and everyone, plus we are doing Book Signing for those who want a rare copy of our book with both of our signatures on it. And if that wasn't enough, children can enjoy fun musical Storytimes with me!
Here's what you can look forward to...
Brompton Cemetery is a stunning Victorian burial ground and a Royal Park. It's one of Britain’s oldest and most distinguished garden cemeteries. The cemetery is Grade I Listed on the Historic England Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, and the cemetery buildings are Grade II Listed. The Friends of Brompton Cemetery hosts events scheduled throughout the year, including the Brompton Annual Open Day. It offers activities, entertainment, and stalls for both children and adults, including:
- Birds of Prey
- Brompton Apiary
- Pedicab rides
- Face Painting
- Stonemasons
- The Ramblers
- The Society of Genealogists
- Local artists and sculptors
- Refreshments from the cafe
- Tours of the cemetery and the Catacombs
This year there will be an even wider range of stalls selling products and crafts such as local honey, handmade soaps, jewellery and accessories, clothes, illustrated maps, books, baskets, aromatherapy, cards, scarves, belts, and many more. There will also be a Plant stall and a bottle tombola outside the North Lodge.
Storytime with Anna Christina in the Chapel
Children will:
- Hear a read-aloud of my picture book, Billy Joins the Circus
- Enjoy seeing the colourful pages and meeting the characters
- Learn about the circus and the inspiration for writing the book
- Love singing and dancing along to the interactive music audiobook
- Create their own Big Top drawings to take home with them
Times: 12:00 - 12:30 | 1:00 - 1:30 | 2:00 - 2:30
Children can take part in my musical storytelling workshop, and then browse my stall for fun CDs, picture books, and unique musical gifts.
Join us for an enjoyable day in this renowned 183-year-old Grade One listed cemetery. Enjoy a rare opportunity to visit the cemetery’s historic catacombs with guided tours. There will be exhibitions, stalls, family fun, music, and something for everyone to enjoy. Pop inside the Chapel to say hello, get your pencil portrait, take part in Storytime, and get your books signed.
