October was a BIG month for me!
As well as doing my October Half-Term Holiday Library Storytimes in Kensington and Chelsea, I was also invited by the Polka Children's Theatre to do my first Workshops in South London!
I had a double booking! Two workshops in one day and the first Workshop took place in a room in Colliers Wood Library. Many families had signed up for my workshop in advance but I was thrilled to see quite a few had turned up from listings found online. This is awesome because it means word of my Storytime is spreading and reaching new eyes and ears! I was delighted to see some parents, who are in the same Facebook networking groups as me, also joined my workshops.
My audiobook Billy Joins the Circus was a hit! The children loved listening to the story and doing all the related activities! In the end, I had everyone up on their feet, parents included, all joining in with singing and dancing along to Billy's song! It was brilliant! I left feeling so inspired and happy!
There's forest furniture and soft seating, a forest scent machine and forest sounds, sensory activity equipment, mini activity centres, giant sand timers, and bubble mirrors. It is a great space and a wonderful setting for storytelling.
My afternoon session was just as much fun as my morning one and once again, everyone got involved in all of the activities. I was particularly pleased to see that one family, who had been at my morning session, had returned to take part in my Storytime for the second time that day. How awesome is that! Luckily with my Music Audio Stories, there's a lot of detail in the stories and sounds for children to listen out for, and they discover new things each time they listen.
Thank you Fran Chabrel and the Polka Theatre, I enjoyed doing the workshops with you and I can't wait for my next Polka workshop at Christmas!
